WORKING BEE! COVID style. Looks like rain this long weekend and anyway, who are you kidding, you're not going anywhere! So instead, or in addition, to your ride why not earn some trail karma and help us out. Working bee all long weekend on the 2 Dead Cows valley -thats the main valley skid track that goes from around mid point of Horse Track up to almost the container. We have cleared a line and will continue to work on it and mark it out but it now needs some clearing of debris and spade/mattock/rake work. So go up anytime over the weekend (gate closed so you're riding..) in your bubble or social distanced extended bubble and put an hour or so in. It's a big area with lots of ventilation. Obey the general Covid level 3 rules please. I will leave some tools at the horse track end-just put them back when you are finished (wear gloves). Opening up this line will enable two trails to exit. The Grade 3 flow that Chris has been building and the Grade 5 trail dwon from the current 2 Dead Cows/Skinny Dipping line (meaning you dont have the ride back up the steep ridge) THANKS!! ... While we are strongly encouraging people to use the Okaroro Rd entrance rather than Rewa rd we are putting in a gravel path across the muddy farm track this week and thus that entrance will be closed. If using Rewa rd can you consider parking down by the beach and riding up. Its getting pretty crowded up by the gate. Thanks Steve from Waikopua.nz (Auckland's Best Location!) for the path ... Well its getting pretty busy in the weekends (and week days) in Maraetai. Parking is limited and seems people are getting a bit creative to get that wee bit closer to the forest gates. If you are parking on a narrow street like Pinebrook Lane, think to yourself "if i park here, can a fire truck get though" if not don't park there!!!
