Thanks to the 170 people who entered the Funduro event on 29th November. The day started with some rain which made the first stages of the day pretty slippy. There was so much mud, bent derailleurs for some but there were also smiles. The rain eased and the wind picked up enough to start drying out the trails to make for some epic riding conditions. After the race there was a BBQ cranking, chilled beer from Deep Creek Brewing Company, pizza plus some great yarns about how the day went. Unfortunately we did have an issue with our timing and that is still being worked on by onetime. We had some pretty solid riders out there so we were super keen to see who took the win ... Hopefully Onetime can work out the problem!! I would like to say a big thank you to the marshals for roughing it out there in the elements and a big thank you to our Sponsors: MEC for the great prizes, Deep Creek Brewery for the beer and t-shirts, Clif bar for the before race treats and Seat saver for the spot prizes. All and all it was an epic day and the smiles afterwards said it all!!
The forest will be closed this coming Sunday 29th November 2020 for the Funduro event. You will be able to access the forest however after 4pm.
If riding in the forest on Saturday, from 10am we will be in their setting up for the race so there will be vehicles driving around. There will be tape closing some tracks so please respect this and DO NOT pull the tape off to use the track. Just avoid those tracks please.
If you are racing this Sunday have an awesome time and we will see you up there. If you are not racing there is 1 entry left in the 7-stage and 3 left in the mini but they will not last long.
Entries are now open and available to enter online. For more information click here

The PCBC Academy is for intermediate riders ages 10-18 and we will be meeting at Maraetai Forest on Tuesday nights 5-7pm, beginning 20th October.
Come along to our open day to register for the Academy, meet the coaches and get your bike and helmet checked. We will have a sausage sizzle and will be going for a group ride after the event. There will be shuttles also.
We will be set up at the entrance to the Eastern track. You will need to be a member of PCBC or have a day pass to attend. Looking forward to seeing you there!
We are noticing an increasing number of walkers using the MTB tracks, in particular Ground Zero during peak times (Sunday morning). We have had a few near misses and lucky it hasn’t ended in tears yet. This track is fast and it would not end well if a mountain biker collided with a walker, especially if they are barreling down long drop. So please use the road or up tracks.
It is coming up to that time of year again for our annual Funduro, so clear your schedule on 29th November 2020.
So what is a Funduro?
The Funduro is an event for everyone young to old, who loves riding their MTB, cruising up the hills and racing down. That’s right you are only timed on the “down” section.
You will be provided with a map before the race and you select your own route to complete (in any order) the 6-7 ‘Race Stages’ within 4 hours. The race stages selected are a combination of flowing and technical Grade 3 and Grade 4 single track. We will also have a King/Queen of the Mountain on our newest up track.
This year is going to be a little different and we will be ditching Strava and doing things proper, yes that is right proper timing – no more Strava f-ups missing your stage or adding 10 min on.
We are super stoked to announce that Mount Eden Cycles will be our major sponsor again – cash prizes for place getters and pizza…yippee.
Entries will be open soon….
If you would like to help out on the day by being a marshal please get in touch.
If you want more information on track updates, join the club to find out what’s open and working bees etc. Click here to find out more about membership.
We have had a load of new members this year!! Its been hard work trying to keep up with processing as there are so many people joining. Please bare with me, I get to them when I have spare time, which is very limited. If you have joined the club but have not received your sticker please get in touch as you should have it (note this does not include those joined in the last week – haven’t got to yours yet).
Awesome well that’s my quick update. Have fun on the trails.
Much thanks to AKtive! and their Covid-19 Community Resilience fund for the generous donation of $4800 to PCBC for our spring trail maintenance programme.
Prospectors, Fools Gold and Screamers have been getting some maintenance work.
